It appears to be an inevitable conclusion that Christopher Nolan's twist-your-brain-until-it's-a-pretzel thriller "Inception" is going to get some Oscar love, though at this point the Academy Awards seems to be months away.
Christopher Nolan has yet to win an Oscar, though he was nominated earlier for writing "Memento." On the other hand ,there were some who thought that he was overlooked for his direction of "The Dark Knight."
There are high hopes that Inception is going to get recognition (and possibly wins) in virtually every technical category : editing, sound mixing, sound editing, art direction, cinematography and positively visual effects. A nomination for best score could happen as well.
All in all , a nomination/win of around 10 is expected. With its blend of technical magic and intellectual drama, "Inception" stands poised to become the "Avatar" of the 2011 Academy Awards ceremony.Except that with fewer blue people and a plot that's far less standard than what James Cameron came up with.
We need to wait until next year to see if this dream of Inception winning the maximum awards at the Oscars would be a reality !

I hope that Inception gets nominated for all the technical awards, plus Nolan for Director, Leo for Best Actor, possibly Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Best Supporting, Best Score, and Best Picture. All in all, around 11 or so nominations.
ReplyDeleteI can't point out wins yet (there are still the Christmas blockbusters yet to come), but I am sure that both Leo and Nolan are overdue.
So far, it deserves Best Picture unless something better comes around. Usually the movie that takes home the Best Picture award comes out later in the year, closer to the Oscars to be fresh in the mind.
ReplyDeleteNolan also deserves the Best Director award, but DiCaprio doesn't deserve Best Actor.
I don't Joseph Gordon Levitt should be nominated, he was good but not excellent. After all, you should be aware the Academy awards is one of the highest and most prestigious award in Film/cinema standards. But Leo definitely hits the spot. Without a doubt in mind. Also the cinematography was very well done along with the explosive yet dreamy soundtrack by none other than Sir Hans Zimmer. Kudos to everyone else in the movie, but mostly, congratuation to Christopher Nolan for bringing back the idea of what filming is all about. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteChristopher Nolan is the highest quality movie maker currently in Hollywood...
ReplyDeleteHis consistent progress with every movie tells us the sheer talent of this gifted cinema-maker...
Inception is the pinnacle one can reach in conveying a story so complex in such a beautiful manner...
So 1st for d director, then for the breathtaking screenplay, then for d technicals and lastly for d best movie oscar...Awards should be in this preference...
The Academy should finally start appreciating the true value of this master...Master Nolan!!!
I think Hans Zimmer should win for best soundtrack. The gip job done on him for Dark Knight was a complete travesty.
